Welcome to 2016! - Principal's Message

I couldn’t be more pleased with how the year has started at Buckley Park College.

Students and staff returned from their break with energy, willingness and positivity. There is such a great buzz around our school and with camps, the House swimming carnival and some important building improvement works already taken place, we’ve made a flying start to the new school year indeed.

Students and staff returned from their break with energy, willingness and positivity. There is such a great buzz around our school and with camps, the House swimming carnival and some important building improvement works already taken place, we’ve made a flying start to the new school year indeed.

Our Newsletter and App Communication 2016 – Update and Reminders…

In 2015, we sought feedback from our community about the way we were managing home-school communication. I was so pleased that so many families were able to contribute to this survey.

In summary, your feedback told us the following:

  • Compass is a highly valuable tool, and there are opportunities to make it even better
  • Families like the idea of a College Newsletter but the current format was too long and too infrequent
  • Communication should be engaging, frequent and responsive to current events
  • Communication via your mobile phones is most helpful

With that in mind, I’m very pleased to explain to you the improvements that we’ve made to make our communication more effective for you.

Beginning this term, all school news will centre on the College website. As activities and events occur at school, we’ll ensure that these things are reported, in a regular way, and that the communication to you is contemporary, efficient and streamlined.

Moving forward, the following communication strategy will now begin:

  1. All school news will be posted to the College website
  2. Any news that we consider to have an immediate purpose for you will be pushed by our website app, Updat-ed
  3. Every second Friday, (beginning today) a newsletter will be compiled from the content of the website and a link emailed to you

In order for our new newsletter and immediate information strategy to be effective for you, I ask that all families please take the following actions:

  1. Please can you subscribe to the newsletter from the link on the College website homepagehttps://www.buckleyparkco.vic.edu.au/ The link is in the middle right hand side of the homepage and we need families to subscribe for our new system to work
  2. Please also subscribe to the App, Updat-ed using your iPhone or android phone device, as it is through the app, that we’re able to push helpful information to you in real-time.

This is an exciting time for our school. Using our website, app solution and Compass, we’re so pleased to be able to refine our communication strategy with you to be more efficient, responsive and purposeful.

Happy reading.
