As term draws to a close we have been reflecting on a term of work here at BPC…
Farewell from Michael
I will be leaving Buckley Park College at the end of Term 2 to commence building a new school in Melbourne’s outer west.
My time here at BPC has been short but rewarding. Our students are amazing and I will take fond memories from my time here.
Thank you to students, staff, parents and our wider community for your support during my time as Principal of Buckley Park College.
BPC’s 2018 Dux Simon Seddon was a recipient of a prestigious Premier’s Award on Monday 3 June. Simon achieved an outstanding ATAR and won a ‘Top All-Round VCE High achiever’ Award. The award goes to students who received study scores of 46 or higher in at least five VCE studies. Simon was one of 21 students from all school sectors in Victoria to win this award. An outstanding effort!
VCAL Achievement Award
Yr12 VCAL student Mimi French-Wright also scooped the pool recently when she was awarded a VCAL Achievement Award for her work in 2018.
The VCAL Achievement Awards celebrate outstanding achievements of young people who participate in and complete a VCAL qualification. The awards also recognise the exceptional efforts of committed teachers and community partners who have played significant roles within the VCAL program. Well done Mimi.
A night of entertainment where our students performed amazing plays that they had created themselves. The artistic battle was fierce as each group performed. What was truly amazing though was the camaraderie of the performers as each play was supported fully by not only the audience but also each of the other House teams!
FofBP Bunnings BBQ
Another Friends of Buckley Park success with over $1500 raised.
Thanks to the following parents and students who gave their time to support our school:
Kevin,Chris, Steve. Charlotte, , Dhammike, Lakmini, Thanh, Christine, Fiona,
Sarah, Marina, Rebecca, Hurmat, Sameet, Annette, Belinda, Mac, Scott, Munees, , Alex, Evelyn.
PAC Seating here
Our new seating for the PAC has arrived and been put into use. The seating has been used already for our House Theatre night and year level assemblies.
Year 7 Camp
Year 7 students finally attended our 2019 Yr7 camp in Marysville. The camp ran well but there is general staff consensus that it is time to seek greener Yr7 camp pastures in 2020. To this end, Ann Anderson & Geoff Currie recently visited some sites and have booked a new venue for 2020.
..and our Yr10 campers spent a great week travelling all over the interior of Australia!
Term 2 concludes on Friday 28 June. Term 3 commences on Monday 15 July for staff with a Professional Learning Day and Tuesday 16 July for all students.
Happy holidays all!
Michael, Craig & Geoff
