On Friday 18th October, two students from Buckley Park College, Alexander Walsh (Year 12) and Isabelle Orosz (Year 11), attended the esteemed ‘Swannie Awards’ Presentation Night at Methodist Ladies College.
They were jointly awarded the 2019 ‘Swannie Award’ for the best speaker of the entire debating competition at ‘A Grade’ level in the Essendon Region. The success of both students in winning a ‘Swannie Award’ is testament to their effort as well as the depth and strength of the debating at Buckley Park College. Congratulations!
The evening was punctuated with speeches from the winners of the Senior and Intermediate ‘Public Speaking Competition’, who explored how emotion is used in politics as well as how modern science and reasoning is under threat.
Isabelle Orosz (Year 11) was also recognised as one of the top speakers in the esteemed 2019 Senior ‘Public Speaking Competition’ for her passionate and thought-provoking speech on ‘Colonisation’. Bravo!
Finally, it is important to acknowledge the continued tireless support of parents. Thank you. Both of these students have made an exceptional effort this year in debating and public speaking at Buckley Park College, hence, the evening concluded with a well-earned celebratory ice cream!
Well done Alexander Walsh (Year 12) and Isabelle Orosz (Year 11)!
