ANZAC Assembly

For our Parents/Carers attending a School Assembly is not something you get to do. Here is a snap shot of photos from Friday 22nd April where we held an entire school Anzac Assembly.

Our School Captains and student leaders MC most of our Assemblies and to coordinate the Assembly we all work off a Running Sheet Program (copy of Fridays is below).

Call to commemoration: Introduces the service and explains why an Anzac Day ceremony is being held.  For eg: Anzac Day – 25 April – is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

Poems to be read by History students ’ANZAC’ to be read by Cooper Scott’ and ‘Peace and War’ to be read by Tia Nicholls

Please welcome Ange Kenos the president of the Essendon RSL.

The Ode comes from For the Fallen, a poem by the English poet and writer Laurence Binyon, which was first published in the London newspaper The Times on 21 September 1914. 

 

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; 

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. 

At the going down of the sun and in the morning 

We will remember them.
