Why is it important?

The Respectful Relationships initiative recognizes that a whole-school
approach is required to effect change in promoting safe, inclusive and
respectful schools.
The impact of Respectful Relationships is like to be increased if the
messages learnt at schools are being reinforced at home.
Parent engagement is therefore a key aspect of the Respectful Relationships
initiative. In addition to inviting the participation of parents,
guardians and carers in the schools Respectful Relationships work, proactive
communication with parents can assist with getting their ’buy in’,
by explaining what the program involves, correcting any myths and alleviating
concerns.
